Emotional

Our seniors’ emotional well-being is one of our top priorities. Emotional difficulties can impact all other areas of a senior’s life, including his or her physical, social and spiritual wellness. Because of this, our caregivers pay close attention to the emotional well-being of our Residents. Some of our most popular emotional wellness initiatives include:

Pet Therapy

The welcoming eyes and wagging tail of a dog can make a world of difference in a senior's day. Pet therapy is always a highlight for everyone and we try to bring our furry friends in as often as possible. We’ve even had visits from Trigger, a pony owned by one of our caregivers!

Visits from Children

The smiles and antics of children are another great way to brighten a day. Through intergenerational programs at several of our retirement and nursing homes, our seniors have many opportunities to interact with school-aged children. Whether it’s a musical performance or a conversation over juice and cookies, the time seniors spend with children is always deeply rewarding for both!

Family Support

Support of family is extremely important and integral to effective senior care. Family members are invited to attend celebrations and meals at all our communities. Our Residential Care communities hold monthly council meetings for family members and Residents as a forum for support, education and communication. And our chaplains and caregivers are always available to provide one-on-one emotional care for family members and our seniors.

Other emotional wellness initiatives offered as part of our commitment to holistic senior care include:

  • Chaplain counseling
