The independence you want … the support you need.
Assisted Living is a model of senior care in a retirement home setting. It is ideal for seniors who enjoy independent living and who may need some assistance with daily tasks such as mobility, personal care and medications. It is typically for seniors over 75 who can no longer stay in their own homes but who wish to remain as independent as possible.
Assisted Living balances the desire for independence with the need for daily personal care. Each senior enjoys the privacy of a self-contained, fully wheelchair-accessible suite, which includes a full bathroom, kitchenette and utilities. Hospitality services include meals, housekeeping, linen service, laundry and 24-hour emergency response. Senior care services such as grooming, mobility and medications, and any other personalized services provided and approved by your local health authority, are also included. The level of senior care provided in Assisted Living is usually higher than that provided in Independent Living with Support Services.
In all of our Assisted Living communities, active living is always a priority. Healthy and delicious meals are served in a communal dining room, and a wide range of recreational opportunities is offered to help our senior citizens stay as active as possible. See our section on Health & Wellness to learn more about the variety of ways we encourage positive lifestyles as part of our commitment to holistic senior care.
Baptist Housing’s 208 Assisted Living suites are subsidized through BC Housing and your local health authority. In our Kelowna communities of care, Residents living in Independent Living suites may receive privately funded Assisted Living services.
