About Us
Our Mission
While exemplifying Christ-like values, we provide comfortable homes and exceptional care to seniors, assisting them to live well in supportive communities.
People Caring For People
In 1964, Dr. Jack Pickford recognized the need for housing among the elderly within our communities. Dr. Pickford responded to this need by working with several others from the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches to create Baptist Housing Ministries.
Clarendon Court was our first seniors residence in the Killarney area of Vancouver. Now more than 40 years later we have grown to thirteen communities throughout British Columbia.
Our Commitment
While housing needs have changed since the 1960’s, we remain committed to our founder's vision of caring for the physical, social, emotional and spiritual well being of the residents who live in our communities. We have created wellness programs in each community for our residents to experience life enrichment and build relationships with others.
We believe our Christian heritage and faith helps us to compassionately meet the various needs of those living in our facilities. Our chaplains are an integral part of community life and are available to address the spiritual needs of individuals and their family members.
Our Affiliation
Baptist Housing Ministries is affiliated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC and Yukon, yet our housing communities are open to people of all faith traditions.
Gifting Opportunities
The need for affordable housing options for seniors continues to grow. In the past, non-profit organizations like Baptist Housing have relied upon government assistance to provide housing.
As demographics change and government funding is spread over increasing needs, these partnerships are somewhat limited and new sources of funding are required. If you share the mission of Baptist Housing and would like to partner with us or financially support us, please contact our CEO - Howard Johnson.
