You communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and are equally comfortable working autonomously or collaboratively. With strong leadership abilities, you mentor teams and manage performance effectively. Your expertise extends to recruiting and coordinating volunteers, leading and teaching individuals and groups, and resolving conflicts while preserving valued relationships. You are adept at planning, implementing, and assessing the success of activities and programs, and excel in observing and assessing residents' wellness needs, with meticulous documentation skills. As a critical thinker and problem solver, you manage their time and workload efficiently, adapting to changing priorities. Your computer proficiency ensures seamless communication and documentation. You are dedicated, flexible, and even willing to adjust your work hours as needed. You are a versatile and compassionate professional, essential to our community's well-being.

Must Haves

  • Completion of a recognized diploma program in recreational therapy

  • Completion of class 4 drivers training and maintenance of valid class 4 (unrestricted) licensure and a clear driver abstract

  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid – Community Care

  • Two years recent related experience coordinating activity programs for seniors, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

About The Role

  • Models Baptist housing values.

  • Fosters positive relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners.

  • Develops campus-wide activity programs for assisted and independent living residents, promoting wellness.

  • Sets annual activity department goals and shares monthly activity calendars.

  • Conducts and participates in programs and activities.

  • Drives the Baptist Housing bus and maintains records.

  • Assists residents in transitioning into the community.

  • Coordinates with the assisted living manager for new residents.

  • Regularly reviews and adjusts activity plans based on feedback.

  • Fosters relationships within Hallmark Communities.

  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and support to activity team members.

  • Ensures department coverage and effective scheduling.

  • Manages team members, conducts performance appraisals, and coordinates with the volunteer coordinator.

  • Participates in on-call coverage for emergencies.

  • Provides the required statistics and progress reports.

  • Maintains knowledge of community programs and resources.

  • Collaborates with external agencies and recruits’ resources for residents' needs.

  • Liaises with other Baptist Housing Activities Coordinators.

  • Assists in annual activity budget preparation.

  • Manages the monthly Activity Department budget and reports expenditures.

  • Promotes a culture of health and safety

  • Identifies and corrects workplace hazards, ensures safety discussions, and enforces compliance.

  • Provides necessary emergency first aid to residents

Your Work Location

Our Hallmark on the Park and Hallmark on the Lake communities are nestled in an idyllic park and lake setting within Abbotsford.

What You Receive

The position offers an hourly salary range of $27.86 to $29.89, along with employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, ample vacation time, up to 7% RRSP matching contribution, and support for professional development.
