Chaplain-(Part-Time)

Baptist Housing is looking for a permanent part time, four day per week compassionate team-oriented Chaplain to join our team in Vancouver to meet the Spiritual Care needs of Residents and Team Members at Grandview Towers in East Vancouver. Grandview Towers has 277 suites of affordable housing for independent seniors. The successful candidate will work in partnership with another chaplain to collaboratively facilitate a dynamic spiritual care ministry for the Residents and Team Members at Grandview Towers. As a Baptist Housing chaplain, your goal is to share life’s journey with others as they face life’s challenges, and as they celebrates life’s joys. Responsibilities include providing opportunities for Christian worship and bible studies, personal visitation and collaborating with other Team Members to facilitate activities that promote wellness. The chaplain will also have the privilege of building and managing a committed team of Spiritual Care volunteers.

To enhance the lives of our Residents and Team Members, the Chaplain provides Christian leadership by example, Biblical counsel when requested and hospitality through presence. The chaplain will facilitate the ministry of other Clergy and Spiritual Care volunteers. A key component of the role involves building relationships in a diverse community while respecting and accepting the values and beliefs of others. Relationships will be built through visitation and participation in other planned community activities.

Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology; however, others with equivalent experience and training will be considered.  The candidate must affirm agreement with the Baptist Housing Ministries Statement of Faith and must be willing to gain the endorsement of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC. Knowledge of geriatrics and experience with people on the aging journey is important to understand the unique needs and challenges one faces as they age. Pastoral education and training in Professional Chaplaincy are also desirable.

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology
