Chaplain-(Full-Time)

Baptist Housing is looking for a compassionate team oriented full-time Chaplain to join our team in West Vancouver to meet the Spiritual Care needs of Residents and Team Members at Inglewood Care Centre. Responsibilities include assessing Residents’ spiritual needs, documenting interactions, and being part of an amazing multi-disciplinary team including participation in care conferences and training. The chaplain will also have the privilege of building and managing a committed team of Spiritual Care volunteers. Collaboration with other Team Members to facilitate activities that promote wellness is another important aspect of the role.

To enhance the lives of our Residents and Team Members, the Chaplain plans times of Christian worship, Bible teaching, prayer and fellowship, as well as facilitating the ministry of other Clergy and Spiritual Care volunteers. A key component of the role involves building relationships in a diverse community while respecting and accepting the values and beliefs of others. Relationships will be built through visitation and participation in other planned community activities.  

Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology; however, others with equivalent experience and training will be considered.  The candidate must affirm agreement with the Baptist Housing Ministries Statement of Faith and must be willing to gain the endorsement of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC. Knowledge regarding dementia and experience ministering to the needs of seniors in a complex care setting is important. Clinical Pastoral education and training in Professional Chaplaincy are also desirable.

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology

• Knowledge of geriatrics and experience with seniors to understand their unique needs
