About The Role

In this multifaceted role, you will prioritize cultivating positive relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners, fostering a supportive community environment. You will facilitate resident worship and address ethical concerns while providing spiritual support to those in need. Additionally, you’ll promote an empowering atmosphere for team members by offering education on spiritual care and assistance with spiritual needs. Networking with relevant organizations, coordinating volunteer efforts, and maintaining comprehensive documentation will be integral parts of your responsibilities. You will collaborate on spiritual care strategy and budgets, all while promoting a culture of health, safety, and preparedness, providing support during emergencies, and adapting to any other assigned duties as needed. Situated on Taylor Way and Inglewood Avenue, our Inglewood community is just moments down the road from Ambleside Park, Capilano Park, and Capilano River Regional Park. 

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in theology (e.g., M.A., M.C.S., M.Div.) or a minimum of a bible or ministry degree from an evangelical bible school 

  • Completion of Clinical Psychospiritual Education units or training in Professional Chaplaincy is preferred. 

  • Three to five years’ experience ministering to the unique needs of seniors.  Consideration will be given to life experience and personal learning. 

  • Agreement with Baptist Housing’s Statement of Faith 

 

About You

You are approachable, warm, and people-centred, with a heart for our residents in long-term care. You are hospitable and fun, with great communication skills and a touch of humor.  With a heart dedicated to lovingly serving, you’ll be a beacon of support for our residents, team members, and their families. You’ll have the ability to orchestrate and enhance our chaplaincy services, including the coordination of spiritual care volunteers, while also providing proficiency as a comforting "presence" in times of need. Working closely with the administrator, you host and lead community gatherings with ease. You are comfortable entering a group and finding a way to connect, exuding the love of Jesus in a very humble way. You are a comforting and supportive presence who creates belonging and inclusivity. Your love for seniors is coupled with a strong understanding of geriatrics and grief.  You are proficient with computers, which help you with written communication and reporting, which are essential to your role. In all your interactions, you embody the values of Baptist Housing and exemplify servant leadership by consistently meeting the needs of others.

Compensation & Benefits

A salary range of $31.79 - 36.76 per hour, in addition to employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, four weeks’ vacation, RRSP matching, and support for professional development.
