How long have you been involved with this art process at Baptist Housing?

Moved to Shannon Oaks- Oak Bay fairly recently within the past year.

Who do you enjoy sharing or making art with?

I used to paint at Schoolhouse in Qualicum every Wednesday. I have quilted since 1985 and I enjoy making quilts for the grandchildren.

Walk for Alzheimer's | May 12 & May 19

Village at Smith Creek participated in a brand new "Alzheimer Walk - in a box" program. Our Residents enjoyed delightful garden walks, homemade goodies and raised funds for the Alzheimer Society of B.C..

#Free Documentary Screening: Being Mortal

Providence Health Care invites you to a free screening of Being Mortal in recognition of Hospice Palliative Care Week on Monday, May 15 at Vancity Theatre.
The documentary follows renowned writer and surgeon Atul Gawande as he investigates the practice of caring for the dying and explores how doctors can improve methods of caring for patients towards the end of life.

New Hope

Baptist Housing is proud to support New Hope Community Services Society, this local Ministry helps refugees integrate into their new homes in the Lower Mainland.

This unique community welcomes children, men and women from all over the world into their apartment complex. They also equip individuals during their transition with employment, housing and community resources. David Smith recently interviewed Jamey McDonald from New Hope to find out more about their work.

Reduce Stress on Big Moves | SFU Tips

Simon Fraser University and Baptist Housing's VP of Development, Dayle Krahn, share tips for supporting residents and team members during a move - Guidelines for en masse interinstitutional relocations of long-term care homes (Battersby et al.Feb.2017). Relocating to a new home is stressful, particularly three to six months after the move and there are ways to reduce negative effects by supporting seniors throughout the journey.

"Three overarching messages to keep in mind throughout the relocation process emerged during the development of these guidelines:

Stuff the Bus

The Kelowna Gospel Mission is in need and we would like to help them out!

On April 27th we will "stuff" our Baptist Housing bus
with donated goods to deliver to the Kelowna Gospel Mission.
