Job Summary

Baptist Housing is looking for a full-time Activities Manager to join our team in Vancouver.  The Activities Manager plans, implements, and evaluates recreational therapeutic wellness programs for the Independent and Assisted Living Residents on the Vancouver Campus. The Manager coordinates the wellness activities for each group of residents in a collaborative process with the Assisted Living Coordinator, Chaplains, and Activity Assistants to ensure activities are developed to meet individual needs, promote community and optimize the holistic wellness of all Residents. Our Activities team is FUN, positive, outgoing and collaborative, modelling our values as they build relationships in our community. Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assessing each Resident on admission and ongoing to determine needs, developing and maintaining program plans and monthly calendars of activities, implementing functional interventions, providing education, developing newsletters and other posters and communications.  Other responsibilities include setting goals and planning and maintaining a budget for the department; documenting plans and activities and providing various reports; leading, supporting, and supervising the Activities Team; works with our volunteer coordinator coordinating a Team of volunteers; networking with and resourcing from the community; and driving the Baptist Housing bus when transporting Residents to external activities.

Qualifications

  • Consent for a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for working with Vulnerable Adults
  • has exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to develop relationships, and creates an environment that fosters community. 
  • Proven skills in planning, implementing, and assessing programs; observing and assessing Residents; teaching and leading individuals and groups; supervising and managing a team are all required. 
  • You must have well developed organization and time management skills necessary to establish priorities and organize workload.
  • A diploma or degree program in Recreational Therapy or be willing to take additional courses relating to Recreational Therapy and have a minimum of two years related experience implementing activity programs for seniors.
  • You must have a valid unrestricted Class 4 drivers’ license and a clear driver abstract or be willing to obtain this.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
