Chaplain

Baptist Housing is recruiting a permanent part-time Chaplain who is excited about being part of the Team serving Residents in Victoria, BC.

 

Reporting to the Vice President of Spiritual Care and the local administrator, the Chaplain provides opportunities for Christian worship, spiritual development and spiritual care to Residents, families and Team Members, walking alongside others as they face life’s challenges and celebrate life’s joys. The Chaplain provides Christian leadership by example, Biblical counsel when requested, hospitality and care, and assistance taking the next step in one’s spiritual journey. The Chaplain is an important part of the Team delivering care to our Residents and is also responsible for training and nurturing a group of spiritual care volunteers. As an ambassador of Baptist Housing, you have exceptional interpersonal and listening skills and a heart to serve others. You have the ability to foster and maintain relationships, maintain sensitivity to religious and cultural diversity and model our values in all interactions. You are able to work independently while collaborating with your fellow Team Members.

The successful candidate will have a Bible or Ministry Degree from an Evangelical Bible school. A Graduate Degree in Theology (eg. M.A., M.Cs., M.Div.) is preferred. Graduation from an accepted Clinical Pastoral Education course or training in Professional Chaplaincy is an asset. An affirmation and demonstration of doctrinal position in alignment with Baptist Housing Ministries’ Statement of Faith is required as is an endorsement from the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC and Yukon. Consideration will be given to life experience and personal learning. *Consent for a Criminal Record Check (CRC) for working with Vulnerable Adults is required.

This position will work in the Shannon Oaks location and requires personal transportation. This is a permanent part-time (19 hours per week) position. Compensation includes a comprehensive benefit package.
