Baptist Housing is looking for a permanent part-time, three day per week compassionate team-oriented Chaplain to join our team in Maple Ridge to meet the Spiritual Care needs of Residents and Team Members at Maple Towers. Maple Towers has 93 suites of affordable housing for independent seniors. The successful candidate will work in partnership with the administrator to collaboratively facilitate a dynamic spiritual care ministry for the Residents of Maple Towers. As a Baptist Housing chaplain, your goal is to share life’s journey with others as they face life’s challenges, and as they celebrates life’s joys. Responsibilities include providing opportunities for Christian worship and bible studies, personal visitation, counseling when requested and collaborating with others to facilitate activities that promote wellness. The chaplain will also have the privilege of building and managing a committed team of Spiritual Care volunteers.

To enhance the lives of our Residents and Team Members, the Chaplain provides Christian leadership by example and hospitality through presence. As the chaplain, you will facilitate the ministry of other Clergy and Spiritual Care volunteers. A key component of this particular role involves organizing and planning activities that enhance the wellness of the Residents. This provides another opportunity for the Chaplain to build relationships in this diverse community while respecting and accepting the values and beliefs of others.

Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology; however, others with equivalent experience and training will be considered.  The candidate must affirm agreement with the Baptist Housing Ministries Statement of Faith and must be willing to gain the endorsement of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC. Knowledge of geriatrics and experience with people on the aging journey is important to understand the unique needs and challenges one faces as they age. Pastoral education and training in Professional Chaplaincy are also desirable.

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Theology
