As Communications Manager you’ll lead the development and execution of clear, consistent, and engaging communication strategies that connect leadership, team members, residents, and partners in alignment with Baptist Housing’s mission and ministry.
About The Role
The Communications Manager is a pivotal leadership role, crafting strategic, compassionate, and values-driven communications that strengthen Baptist Housing’s mission. You’ll partner with marketing, HR, and operations to deliver messaging that inspires trust, fosters engagement, and reflects our commitment to humility, grace, and excellence. By leading with humility and collaboration, you’ll guide initiatives that empower stakeholders and reflect our commitment to excellence in seniors’ care. This role is responsible for crafting, reviewing, and proofing internal and external messaging that reflects Christian values and language. You will oversee the development of content for social media, spiritual care teams, ministry events, and other platforms including supporting Christian messaging such as Easter, Christmas, prayer materials, and biblical reflections. As such, the ability to authentically communicate from a Christian perspective- grounded not only in tone but also in an understanding of Christian beliefs is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Drive communication strategies that align with our Mission, Vision, and long-term goals, anticipating trends and stakeholder needs.
Mentor colleagues, fostering a culture of open dialogue, empathy, and continuous improvement.
Communications Strategy
Develop proactive internal communication plans to engage team members, building trust and alignment across all levels.
Craft external messaging, including press releases and media responses, in collaboration with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
Deliver resident- and family-focused communications with warmth, transparency, and sensitivity, honoring their dignity and needs.
Create, review, and proof internal and external messaging that reflect our voice and values.
Content Excellence
Create compelling, consistent content for newsletters, social media, websites, and publications, reflecting Baptist Housing’s voice and values.
Create and proof content that supports Christian messaging such as Easter, Christmas, prayer materials, and biblical reflections.
Provide speechwriting, presentations, and key messaging for senior leadership, ensuring clarity and persuasive impact.
Establish tone and style guidelines, embedding empathy and professionalism in all communications.
Crisis & Stakeholder Engagement
Lead crisis communications with decisiveness and composure, developing strategic response plans to protect our reputation.
Build and nurture relationships with media, community partners, and health authorities, enhancing Baptist Housing’s influence.
Anticipate stakeholder reactions, tailoring communications to foster trust and collaboration.
Innovation & Improvement
Leverage feedback and data to evaluate communication effectiveness, refining strategies for maximum impact.
Support event planning and promotion, creating engaging experiences that strengthen community ties.
Champion digital innovation, optimizing platforms to enhance accessibility and engagement.
Requirements
Demonstrated alignment with Baptist Housing’s Christian values and Statement of Faith. The successful candidate will be required to review and sign our Statement of Faith as part of the onboarding process.
Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in communications, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning and leadership.
Proven expertise in media relations, crisis communications, and digital engagement platforms.
Outstanding storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling, audience-specific narratives.
A background in nonprofit, healthcare, or faith-based organizations is considered an asset.
Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and ability to perform in fast-paced, deadline-driven settings.
Collaborative and empathetic communicator with a natural ability to foster relationships across diverse teams and communities.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally within British Columbia.
Some travel is required. Flexibility to work remotely may be discussed in alignment with team needs.

Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package, featuring an annual salary range of $80,000 - $85,000.
Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with generous vacation time.
Additionally, we provide RRSP matching contributions and support for your ongoing professional development.
