About You

You possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build and maintain relationships. Highly service-oriented, you enjoy working collaboratively with others while also being capable of independently carrying out your responsibilities. With your highly developed mechanical skills, you have a proven ability to maintain and repair a wide range of appliances, equipment, and systems. As a critical thinker and problem solver, you approach challenges with a detailed and organized mindset. You effectively manage your time, workload, and conflicting priorities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently. In the role of Maintenance Assistant, you contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities, providing essential support to create a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and team members. You embody our organizational values in every interaction, demonstrating compassion, honesty, respect, innovation, stewardship, teamwork, and fun.

Must Haves

  • Training in building and systems maintenance.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in building and systems maintenance, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Good physical and mental health to perform duties in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Preferred experience working in a hotel environment or long-term care residence.

  • Experienced driver with a minimum of a Class 5 license and clear driving record.

  • Intermediate skills in MS Office.

  • Proof of Covid 19 vaccination

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Job Duties

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners.

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs various components, including furniture, cupboards, countertops, walls, floors, ceilings, and windows.

  • Applies paint and other finishes as needed.

  • Handles plumbing tasks such as installing and repairing fixtures, water supply, and waste lines.

  • Identifies equipment malfunctions and performs repairs on items such as wheelchairs, paging and telephone systems, small appliances, and heavy-duty equipment.

  • Conducts electrical installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and recommends necessary repairs and replacements.

  • Manages grounds maintenance tasks, including power washing, repairing irrigation systems, and external building repairs.

  • Ensures timely resolution of maintenance concerns.

  • Monitors and maintains stock of repair parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in maintenance work and storage areas.

  • Conducts periodic inspections as directed.

The seaside city of White Rock. Our Evergreen community is located at 1550 Oxford Street.
