As the Recreation Assistant, you will conduct therapeutic and recreational activities to meet the diverse needs of residents, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you work collaboratively to implement a person-centered Wellness Model of Care that promotes health, wellness, and a safe, empowering environment for residents
Requirements
Completion of Grade 12
Completion of a recognized recreation therapy aide certificate or diploma, minimum 12 month program
Current Food Safe Certificate
First Aid Certificate sufficient to meet Licensing requirements (minimum 8 hours of class time), such as Emergency First Aid for Community Care
A minimum of one year of experience implementing recreation programs in residential Care
About The Role
As the Recreation Assistant, you embody the organizational values and exemplify Servant Leadership by prioritizing the needs of others. You cultivate positive, collaborative relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners while actively engaging in the Wellness Model of Care. You adeptly multi-task and multi-skill to enhance residents' active living and continuity of care. By fostering a safe and empowering environment, you stimulate residents' interests and abilities, encouraging activities that uphold their autonomy, independence, dignity, and privacy. You contribute to the planning and development of recreational programs and care plans, addressing the needs of residents experiencing physical or mental changes creatively. You execute social and recreational programs, prepare activity areas, maintain equipment, and ensure cleanliness and safety. Additionally, you assist with mealtimes, uphold confidentiality, and adhere to organizational policies. You document and report residents' progress, engage in professional development, and promote a health and safety culture by following infection control policies and identifying workplace hazards.

As a compassionate and adaptable individual with a caring personality, you are well-suited to provide safe and empathetic care to our residents. You excel in clear documentation, time management, and teamwork, demonstrating both physical and mental capability. Fluent in English and tech-savvy, you understand the Wellness Model of Care and possess the ability to assess resident's needs. Your keen awareness of safety measures fosters an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment. As a Recreation Assistant, you actively participate in multi-tasking and multi-skilling within a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating to implement a person-centered Wellness Model of Care. Alongside the therapy team, you promote health and wellness through normalized activities, creating a safe and empowering environment that respects the autonomy, independence, and dignity of residents.
Compensation & Benefits
An hourly wage of $28.70 in a collaborative and supportive work environment.
