Must Haves

  • At least one year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or completion of a Rehab Assistant Diploma or Program, preferred 

  • Current First Aid certification 

About The Role

This is a casual position

Reporting to the Residential Care Director and with the direction of the Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for supporting and supervising Resident Therapy Programs.  

  • Meet with OT/PT to report and plan priorities. 

  • Check and address daily emails and therapy consultations, including equipment and repairs. 

  • Execute individual or group interventions as directed by the therapist (range of motion, ambulation ADLs). 

  • Assist with resident lifting, transfers, and positioning as directed. 

  • Observe and report challenges or changes in therapeutic programs to the therapist, RN, or LPN. 

  • Complete walking exercise programs for residents. 

  • Promote team awareness of safe transfer and lifting techniques and provide coaching. 

  • Act as a Safety Coach Team member, attending meetings, trainings, and OH&S sessions. 

  • Label resident wheelchairs and mobility equipment and maintain up-to-date records. 

  • Communicate repairs needing outside service to the therapist at the POA of the resident. 

  • Provide and maintain specialty equipment as indicated. 

  • Monitor Roho cushion inflation and cleanliness. 

  • Monitor laundering, cushions, covers, and other therapy equipment. 

  • Maintain established supplies and report shortages to the therapist. 

  • Keep the work area and equipment clean for a safe environment. 

  • Maintain resident charting, exercise/therapy program documentation, and progress notes. 

  • Record therapy attendance and equipment maintenance. 

  • Demonstrate and ensure the team follows safe work practices. 

  • Establish and support a health and safety culture. 

  • Model Baptist Housing's values in all interactions with team members, residents, families, and partners 

  • Perform other duties as assigned, leveraging individual strengths.

Situated on Taylor Way and Inglewood Avenue, our Inglewood community is just moments down the road from Ambleside Park, Capilano Park, and Capilano River Regional Park.
