Long Term Care | Kelowna | Casual

About You

You have a love for seniors and enjoy building long term relationships with the residents in your care. You’re known as kind and compassionate, with an extreme amount of patience. Difficult people or challenging situations don’t get you flustered. You’re an excellent communicator and can explain instructions in a way anyone can understand. People trust you and always comment that you listen to what they have to say. You’re always on time for work and known for "always getting the job done". You take the safety of the residents in your care seriously and have a gentle touch when working physically with people. You’re also flexible and adaptable enough to deal with changing priorities and situations that require some quick thinking. You come with a high school education and completion of a recognized nursing assistant program or a Health Care Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution. You’ll be registered with the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry and have a Food Safe Level 1 Certificate.

About The Role

You’ll assist residents in their daily activities, such as socializing, exercising, and engaging in recreational activities. You will perform all tasks with safety and efficiency in mind. You’ll establish a culture of health and safety by setting an example of safe behaviour and encouraging other team members to do the same. Additionally, you will identify and correct any hazards or unsafe practices and report them to the Occupational Health and Safety Committee. Your adherence to infection control policies will be essential, with an emphasis on frequent hand washing. You’ll also be responsible for communicating resident progress, attendance, and changes in physical and cognitive functioning. As an ambassador of Baptist Housing, you’ll model our values in all interactions.
