Our Featured Artist is Judy.

How long have you been involved with this art process at Baptist Housing?

Judy has been making jewelry for about 10 years and is self-taught.

Who do you enjoy sharing or making art with?

Judy likes to make people happy with her beautiful creations.  She makes the jewelry in her suite, and enjoys sharing them with residents at shows and participating in Craft Fairs at the Oak Bay Campus

Why do you like being an artist?

Judy is inspired to make jewelry by viewing raw stones, rocks and nature. “Everything I see is a design to me, and I want to make it into jewelry. Colours inspire me and I like to put strange or unique things together.”.

Who first inspired or taught you this craft?

Judy credits her love of nature’s gifts to her mother who was a “rock hound”. Judy’s mother mounted crystals that were sent the University for the Graduate students to study. This sparked her love of rocks and raw gem stones.

Any advice for future artists?
